Getting to Costa Rica & where to stay

Most major airlines serve Costa Rica, to both the cities of San Jose and Liberia,
and many have direct flights from major cities in the US.

Most airlines will arrive later in the day, making a local airline connection the same day not possible.

Denver’s Frontier Airlines has a flight that will get you there early enough to connect all in one day.

San Jose is a fun city and has plenty to do with many tour operators.
Hotels abound around the airport.
One exceptionally nice hotel is the Holiday Inn Express (below) with 24 hour shuttle service.

A new casino and Denny’s restaurant are across the street
and most of the major rental car companies are within walking distance to the hotel.

Most people will fly into San Jose and either rent a car or fly to the beach.
Drive time is approximately 4 hours through some beautiful country.

If you opt to fly, there are two local airlines, Sansa and Nature Air, with several flights a day to Nosara.

Rental cars are available in the terminal at the San Jose airport and can meet you at the airport in Nosara.
Taxis, vans and busses are also available.

Liberia is closer to Nosara, about 2 hours drive time, and boasts a new airport.
Rental cars are available here as well as taxis and vans.

Airfare is typically higher for Liberia (LIB) than San Jose (SJO).

The Village of Garza

Situated between the resort towns of Samara and Nosara,
the small fishing village of Garza is reminiscent of the older Costa Rica.

This quiet, peaceful little town is located on one of the most picturesque,
calm water bays in all of the Guanacaste peninsula.

There are several restaurants, all with excellent food, and two mini supermarkets for the essentials
and a super market several minutes north.
